With Intelligence 2026 Hedge Fund Trends Report Finds New Growth Hot Spots in North America and Equity Strategies
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, September 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Hedge funds continue to spark increased interest among institutional investors. According to the Hedge Fund Trends Report 2026, from With Intelligence, S&P Global, global hedge funds attracted $13bn in net capital inflows during the first half of 2026, , putting the industry on track for a second consecutive year of positive capital raising, following 12 out of 13 quarters of net outflows between Q4 2021 ad Q4 2024.
“While there has no doubt been some high-profile volatility in the hedge fund space recently, institutional investors are increasing their exposure, with a particular focus on commodities, fixed income, and credit-focused funds,” said Sam Macdonald, Hedge Fund Research Lead, With Intelligence. “With the sector as a whole now on pace to hit its second consecutive year of net capital inflows, our analysis helps identify some of the key drivers shaping that trend.”
Following are some of the highlights in the With Intelligence Hedge Fund Trends Report 2026:
• Hedge Fund Inflows Hit $13bn in First Half: The hedge fund industry attracted $13bn in net inflows during the first half of 2026, putting it on track for a second consecutive year of positive capital raising. Funds attracted $6.6bn in Q2 alone, the sixth consecutive quarter of net capital inflows, despite redemption pressure across several strategies during June.
• New Fund Launch Activity Surges: Through the first six months of 2026, With Intelligence has tracked 141 new funds in development in North America alone, the second-largest field of new North American fund launches since the COVID-19 pandemic. Macro strategies accounted for 10% of new funds in development, continuing a three-year trend.
• CTAs Outperform Macro Funds: For the first time since 2022, CTAs have outpaced discretionary global macro managers on overall fund performance, returning 9.8% during the first half of 2026. Discretionary macro managers have suffered a patchier period, returning an average of 7.1% in the first half amid central bank policy and ongoing geopolitical events that weighed heavily on performance.
• Multi-Strategy Funds Lead Allocator Demand, Despite Consolidation: Investor interest in multi-strategy hedge funds has increased notably over the past year, with more than one-in-five hedge fund allocation intentions targeting multi-strategy managers in the first half. Despite this growing interest, consolidation in the multi-strategy space has accelerated.
